If you plan on having a hot and steamy tropical wedding, you must keep your guests hydrated! Beautifully cool refreshment stands like this D.I.Y. refreshment ladder idea help you to have a wedding that is witnessed by happy guests. In order to do this project, you will need to know how to work a saw, or at least know a handy friend who can help you out! Just a fair warning. Follow the steps below to create your own tower of frosty drinks!
1. Find A Vintage Ladder
Part of the charm of this refreshment ladder is the the faded hardware and the whimsical white wood. You can make the white tinted wood on your own, but the hardware will be hard to fake. Look for metal that is a bit rusted and has a soft ,worn appearance for the right effect!
2. Paint the Ladder White
In order to create this soft, white look, you will need to work with the ladder you have. If it is painted, you will likely need to remove the paint. This doesn’t have to be as grueling as you think. As at a hardware store for a chemical stripper in order to save some time. Once the old paint is stripped away, sand and clean the ladder, and then use a foam brush to paint on an layer of white stain. You will only use one coat. Paint soaks into wood unevenly, and this will leave you with a stylized, whitewashed vintage look.
3. Create The Shelving
This is where you will need a saw! Make measurements for the distance between rungs of the same level. Cut wood panels (you can recycled used wood or buy new, as this will not be very visible in the final project). Nail your shelving onto the rungs so that it is secure, or use L brackets and screws for more stability.
4. Fill Your Beautiful Shelves With Drinks!
On your wedding day you will fill the shelves with drinks! The clear mason jars filled with lemon water match the whitewashed wood and vintage vibe of this ladder shelf.
You could alternate this project to match the theme or color palate of your wedding if you feel that the pale, antique style is not quite right! Have fun getting creative with this basic design. The method is simple, and there are many directions that you could take it! Do you have any ideas about how to tweak this D.I.Y. project? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
