Orange & Turquoise

Ahh, we missed this kind of wedding – ones with really vibrant and popping colors. The use of turquoise and orange for this special day was somewhat an embodiment of their beautiful sunset ceremony. The weather tried to rain on their parade but the sun was really shining down on them and the rain only poured after the outdoor activities and after the sun has brought out it’s orange glory. So check out this DIY wedding and enjoy its lovely vibrant colors. Congratulations Julianna & Philip!

Bride

What do you think is the overall story for this album?

I think our pictures show the love we have for one another. They also capture the beautiful backdrop of Marco Island. We both share a love for the beach and could not imagine being in any other setting for our wedding.

What inspired the wedding day outfits?

We wanted to wear “formal” wedding attire, but we also did not want to clash with the beach, so we settled on silk chiffon dresses for the ladies and khakis and navy blazers for the guys.

What was your favorite part of the day?

Our favorite part of the day was the ceremony. Our close family and friends surrounded us, as we became one family with our daughter, Grace. She was included in our vows and sand ceremony because she’s just as important as us.

Was there any Do It Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?

Many of the “details” were DIY. We handed out paintbrushes at the ceremony for guests to “brush the beach from their feet.” Our table numbers at the reception were pictures of our daughter holding up chalkboard numbers. Instead of a traditional guest book, we created a “message in a bottle.” Guests wrote messages for us to open at our first anniversary. Our favors included personalized M&M’s (groom’s favorite) in small bottles.

What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?

45 minutes before the ceremony was to begin, the skies turned dark, and it started to thunder. Our wedding coordinator believed the weather would hold off and gave us the green light to begin. We certainly had some special people looking over us on our wedding day because despite the ominous skies, the rain held off. In the end, the sunset was absolutely that evening. Once everyone was underneath the veranda eating dinner, it finally did rain, but it didn’t ruin our fun!

Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?

The wedding was beach themed with starfish and sand dollars, and we tied in the bride’s favorite colors, orange and turquoise.

What part of the ceremony did you and your groom find the most memorable?

At the end of our ceremony, our daughter shouted out “We did it!” Those unscripted moments are always the most memorable!
