This beautiful beach wedding was an elegant event on a budget. The bride, a local occupational therapist, and the groom, a Marine had a troupe of friends who joined in to make, bake and bedazzle their special day. Add in a perfect beach day as a backdrop and the result is simply stunning. The bride made the floral decorations for the beach arch and left it to the groom and company to assemble. In true military fashion, they arrived with a shovel, stool and lots of wire. But even the military was no match for Virginia Beach wind as the tulle billowed like a kite until a passerby joined in to assist. An aisle of seashells marked the way for Shawna’s Dad to escort his girl. Balloons free hanging at the reception added a lot of festive atmosphere without breaking the bank. Simple wineglasses turned upside down with votives and shells added a dramatic centerpiece. A friend made the elegant wine-glasses by gluing on jewels to an ordinary glass. Another friend made the cupcakes with a small cake on the top so the bride and groom could celebrate. An additional cost saver was to have a bridal portrait shot immediately after the family photos on the sand under the arch.
