Season of Love and Sunflowers

We’re giving so much love for sunflowers recently and we don’t regret it. I mean who can resist such a jolly looking flower. It gives so much life and color that even games rely on it for life source  (read: Plants vs Zombies). But going back to this amazing wedding, we love how our couple used this flower for it complemented their vibrant and perfect day. Everyone is just full of smiles and love! The details and decors were adorable and the color palette of coral and yellow sealed the deal on how awesome this wedding is. Congratulations Cheryl & Josh!

What inspired the wedding day outfits?

The location! We live in the nation’s capital, Washington, DC, a city that moves a mile a minute and wanted all of our friends and family to know that our special weekend was all about the laid back “beachy” lifestyle that Key West has to offer.

What was your favorite part of the day?

The entire day was amazing, from the flowers, to the food, and even down to the weather, we couldn’t be happier with how the day went. But if we have to narrow it down to one part, we both agree that seeing each other at the ceremony “for the first time” was the highlight of our day. After months and months of planning, everything had come together, and it wasn’t raining, and this was the reason we were there, for the biggest day of our lives, in front of our most favorite people in the world.

Was there any Do It Yourself (DIY) projects?

If so, can you describe them in detail? Our table numbers were DIY and had some sentimental meaning. We wanted something unique and we also needed something with a little weight to it because our reception was outside. We liked the idea of having wine bottles as the table numbers. Kevin proposed at the Family beach house in Bethany Beach, DE, so we purchased empty wine bottles, brought them to DE on one of the family trips over the summer and filled them up with sand on the same beach that we got engaged. We then had customized wine corks made and made labels for each table. Each table number was an important date in our relationship in which we came up with funny names to keep people guessing as to what they meant.

What were the highlights from the ceremony and reception?

What made our ceremony special to us is that we wrote our own vows. Since we were having a non-traditional wedding we decided it would be more memorable to write our own vows. Our Officiant was also very special to us because he was the father of one of Kevin’s childhood friends who passed away in a traffic accident a few years ago. It was an honor for him to conduct our wedding ceremony and stand next to us as we got married to honor a friend that should have been there on that day. The reception was fantastic; it was just such a great time to have all of our friends and family together in one place at one time sharing good food and good drinks. We took a special moment to ourselves to just look around and validate how special it was and how we are thankful for everyone in our lives.

Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?

We really wanted a fun, casual, beautiful setting for our wedding so everyone could come together and socialize, but also relax and be on vacation. Our wedding colors were pink and orange because we wanted something unique, but also beautiful that went well with a casual atmosphere like Key West.

What part of the ceremony did you and your groom find the most memorable?

Our ceremony site was a bed and breakfast. All of our wedding party was able to stay in the house and it was our house for the weekend. We were there for 5 days and it was such a great way to get more time with everyone. Our wedding party traveled from all over to come to our wedding and being able to hang out by the pool, have breakfast with each other, and catch up over the few days that everyone was together gave us more quality time with our guests.
