There’s a lot of ways you can make your wedding personalized and memorable, even if you are on a budget. Rob and Heather had a simple ceremony and reception at a country club on the island sound. What made it special were the shells that were blessed by the officiant and guests and then kept in a glass jar. This will forever be a wonderful reminder of what must have been the best day of their lives — yet. Congratulations, Rob and Heather!
What is the overall story for this album?
A couple from the Raleigh area sets their destination wedding at the beautiful Country Club of the Crystal Coast. The country club is on the sound side of the island.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Heather showed a fantastic variety of emotions during the ceremony. She changed between ear to ear smiles and happy tears.
Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?
Each guest was given a seashell on their way into the ceremony. The officiant and guests blessed the shells and then deposited them in a large vase for Rob and Heather to keep.
What were the highlights from the ceremony & reception?
Rob and Heather had a beautiful destination wedding on the coast of North Carolina. The ceremony took place overlooking the Bogue Sound, a body of water otherwise known as the intercoastal waterway. The weather forecast called for rain and the guys’ early afternoon golf round was interrupted by rain. However, the rain held off until late into the inside reception, keeping everybody dry and allowing for their outdoor ceremony and pictures. (There were also tornadoes in the area, though none came close to the wedding.)
Here are some fun notes about the wedding:
- Every guest was given a seashell as they entered the ceremony. The seashells were blessed by the officiant and then guests placed them into a large vase for Rob and Heather to keep and display.
- Video cameras were set up on chairs on the inside of the front row and a GoPro camera was set up on the ground.
- The maids of honor both claimed that they were going to Costa Rica with the couple, hence the bag and sunglasses during their toast.
- This was a budget wedding that included cake from Walmart and silk flowers from Michaels. The floral arrangements were put together by the bride, her friend Jen, her mother and her mother’s friend.
