Make Your Own Chalkboard Buffet Signs

Have you seen the super cute buffet or candy buffet signs and wanted them for your wedding day? Well, you can make them very easily and it’s cheaper than purchasing them! All the supplies are available at your local dollar or craft store, and each sign will take just a few minutes to create.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Blank wooden plaque.
  • Wooden candle holder (taper).
  • Small wooden finial.
  • 2 small cans of paint – one black, one whatever color you’d like.
  • Box of baking soda.
  • Hot glue or gorilla glue.

Here’s what you need to do. Start by using the glue to glue the plaque to the wooden candle holder. It will sit upon the candle holder like a sign. Then, glue the finial to the top for a little decoration above the “sign” part of the project. Allow this to thoroughly dry before proceeding to the next steps.

Now, you will paint the candle holder and the finial in the secondary paint color. While you’re waiting for that to dry, mix up 1 cup of the black paint with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. This will be your “chalkboard paint.” Paint the sign part with this and allow it to dry.
