We’re All About the Details!

The Ceremony

Their ceremony and reception took place on a vast lawn almost encircled by strikingly majestic mountains on one side and on the other a sprawling view of the turquoise green ocean. There is a reason why so many movies are filmed here!

The Lush Color Palette

They chose soft colors that would complement the beautiful surroundings: green, blush and gold. The florals were a mix of green and blush in gold vases. They added other touches of gold with the votives, gold utensils, and gold rimmed champagne glasses.

The Florals

They wanted the floral decorations to include flowers that you could find in Hawaii so they went with king proteas, pink ginger, tillandsia air plants, silver eucalyptus and white orchids.

The Bouquet

The bride had the most incredible bouquet of proteas and her bridesmaids each held a singular king protea to match the overall theme.

The Dessert Table

They chose to have cupcakes for the guests from their favorite bakery Hokulani Cupcakes: chocolate guittard with cream cheese frosting and strawberry-guava with cream cheese frosting.

Something DIY

They decided to make their own escort cards which their guests took home with them. The bride took a calligraphy class for a few months before the wedding and hand wrote all of the escort cards and signs. The couple painted each of the escort cards with blush and light peach water colors and attached them to toy dinosaurs that they had sprayed gold. Why dinosaurs? The Jurassic Park series was famously filmed at Kualoa Ranch so they wanted to add in a fun little homage to the venue.

The Polaroid Station

They also had a Polaroid station where guests could replace their name cards with a picture of themselves. That was really special because the couple wanted to remember how much fun their guests had at the wedding. They ended up with almost 100 Polaroid pictures of the wedding!

About the Photographer
My photography style can be described as a blend of documentary, fine art, and beautiful creative images. As much as possible, I try to be in the background and photograph your day as it unfolds. During the portraits of the two of you and the bridal party, I look for interesting angles and gorgeous light to create beautiful, natural images. I love weddings, but also engagements and day after sessions. I’m based in Honolulu, Hawaii, but love to travel all over the world. That is one of the perks of being a photographer after all. My packages start at $1900 for 4 hours and I can customize packages as well. The best way to contact me is through my website.

Take this Advice

Stay true to your vision of the event and don’t do things that you feel like you are “supposed to do”. The wedding is all about the two of you so feel free to keep it that way. Have fun in the planning process and don’t get too wrapped up in the details. You can make yourself crazy by focusing too much on every little thing. ~Rachel Robertson/Photographer
