Dip your toes into today’s wedding set in the beautiful island of Maui. Jessica and Jonathon perfectly planned this romantic destination wedding to include just their closest friends and families. The wedding ceremony was simple and intimate, their minister had quite a sense of humor as it is evident in the photos. The bride opted to go for a budget-friendly wedding wherein she scavenged every bit of detail to complete the whole vintage look and feel of their theme— from the crocheted bridesmaids’ dresses from Urban Outfitters, to the burlap flower bouquets from Hobby Lobby and her gorgeous bridal gown which she saw hanging at a vintage bridal shop. Everything came together to produce such a perfect day! Jessica shares with us some of the memorable moments of their big day.
What would you say, the overall story for this album?
From the photographer Karma Hill –
This wedding was vintage romance meets destination wedding. The couple was adorable, in love and had a great sense of style!
What inspired the wedding day outfits?
I had been looking for a unique wedding dress, but so many bridal boutiques had the same look. I found a small vintage bridal shop in the bay area near my grandparents house and as soon as I walked in, there was the perfect dress hanging on the wall! To top it off it fit almost to perfection! Jon has always liked the “vintage” look, so bow ties and suspenders tied right in with the 20’s style of my dress. And for my girls, I’m not into the “typical” bridesmaids dresses and ended up finding the perfect dresses on-sale at Urban Outfitters for $39! We loved how it all came together!
What was your favorite part of the day?
Can we say the whole day? 🙂 We loved every moment of our ceremony! From our minister with his great sense of humor, to our amazing sunset, and of course our romantic first dance on the beach. Itwas truly the wedding of our dreams!
Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?
It was expensive to have bouquets made for my girls and I’m all about saving a few bucks! I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few burlap flowers for each bouquet, about $2 each, and put them together and brought them on the plane with us. I also made my hair clip out of earrings found at Old Navy of all places; I think they were around $12.
What were the highlights from the ceremony & reception?
We were lucky enough to be surrounded by our families and closest friends that had made the trip to Maui just for us. My brother, who was basically our match-maker, played his banjolele as I walked down the aisle. Our wedding day was simple and perfectly romantic. How many people get to have their first dance and fatherdaughter dance in front of an amazing sunset on the beach? (no regrets there!) Our focus through the whole planning process was to keep our focus on our marriage and not just a party to impress others, we kept things simple and stress free! I highly recommend that! 🙂
Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?
Love and Romance!
