What You’ll Need:

  • Sugar Cookie Dough
  • Cinnamon and Sugar (optional)
  • Sliced Almonds

Sugar Cookie Dough

These sugar cookies couldn’t be easier to make. If you want to go the easy route, simply purchase the premade sugar cookie dough from your local grocery store. If you’d rather make them from scratch, find your favorite sugar cookie recipe and mix up the dough. Below is a good basic sugar cookie recipe:

Step One: Combine 3 cups of all purpose flour, ¾ cups of baking powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt in a mixing bowl and set it aside.

Step Two: In another mixing bowl, combine a cup of softened butter with 1 (beaten) egg and 1 tablespoon of milk. Using a mixer, blend the ingredients together.

Step Three: While mixing the egg, milk and butter, slowly add in the flour mixture. Continue to mix until the dough starts to stick together in the center of the bowl.

Step Four: You’re going to want to refrigerate the dough in order to make it easier to work with, so wrap it in waxed paper and place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Once it’s completely chilled, you can roll it out on a surface dusted with powdered sugar to about ¼ inch thick. Use a round cookie cutter to get your circular shapes.

Putting it Together

Once you have your cookies ready to bake (whether you’ve made your own or purchased them), you’re going to take 5 almond slices and place them on the tops of the cookies in a star shape. Press them in slightly so the almonds will stay in the cookies during baking and transporting. If you want to give them a “sandy” look, simply combine cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it over the tops of the cookies.

Now bake the cookies according to the package directions, or if you’ve made the cookies from the recipe above, bake them at 375-degrees for about 8 minutes or until the edges of the cookies just start to brown.

That’s it! See how easy it is? You can place these delicious cookies in personalized favor bags or boxes and you have a fantastic edible beach wedding favor that your guests will adore.
