Odalys and Carlos’ beach wedding was complete with the aquamarine waters, bright blue skies, coconut trees, and green grass – the tropics in all of its glory. The photos were very lovely that it rendered the place very inviting, and the shabby chic of a wedding made it more alluring. Odalys’ bouquet is a combination of blush pink and mint green – together made for tropical chic colors. They also hired a mariachi band and gave out small Mexican hats engraved with their wedding date. Read on to know more about their wedding courtesy from their photographer, Kristine Arias!
What is the overall story for this album?
Odalys and Carlos met on a cruise to the Caribbean in 2007. They had an instant connection but when they got back from vacation, life went on, and they did not keep in touch. It wasn’t until two years later that they met again and rekindled their romance. After dating for five years, they tied the knot on one of the beautiful beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Their destination wedding was held at the Riu Palace Maya Riviera Resort and their big day could not have been more perfect. They had a ceremony under a gazebo overlooking the beach, and their reception was on the sand under the stars.
What inspired the wedding day outfits?
The bride wore a stunning low back, fit and flare, lace dress, and the groom wore a gray suit. The maid of honor wore a bright coral dress from BCBG, and the best man wore gray pants with a gray vest. They wanted a relaxed yet elegant look for their beach wedding.
What was your favorite part of the day?
As photographers, our favorite part of the day was the amazing reception. The bride and groom had many personal and emotional aspects during their reception. The mother of the bride passed away earlier that year, and she was honored and remembered in many aspects of the reception. We also had an awesome time capturing not only the raw emotions, but all the fun the bride, groom and guests had during the reception.
Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?
Because it was a destination wedding, the bride prepared goodie bags for all the guests. The goodies were placed in a cloth bags that were stamped by hand with a custom-made thank you letter from the bride and groom. They also purchased small different colored Mexican hats and had their bride and grooms names and date of the wedding engraved into the hat.
What were the highlights of the ceremony & reception?
The highlight of the ceremony was the look on the grooms face as the bride walked down the aisle with her father. There was so much emotion in those few moments. The reception highlight was seeing the bride and groom have a great time with all their family and friends. The dance floor was packed from the moment the music began, to the last dance!
Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?
Beach Themed.
What part of the ceremonies do you think was the most memorable for the bride and groom?
I think the act of getting married and saying their vows was the most memorable part of the bride and groom. I’m sure they will also never forget the fun they had during their reception.
