The sunlight sparkling on the waves, the powdery sand, the sunshine…beach weddings are unbelievably beautiful. If you’re planning a beach wedding, you might appreciate the following amazing beach wedding memento ideas:
1. Beach Wedding Ornament
Purchase an empty glass or plastic ball ornament from your local craft store. These are usually available year-round, but if they can’t be found locally, they are available online year-round and can be ordered. Add some sand from the beach you’re getting married on and a few tiny shells. You can leave it as is, or you can take it a step further and cut an invitation from your wedding into strips, curl them around a pencil and add those. You can also put a small picture inside by carefully rolling it (but not creasing it) and placing it inside.
2. Seashell Necklace
For a memento you can take with you everywhere, find a small, pretty seashell on the beach you’re getting married on. Take it home and drill a small hole in the top, place a jump ring in the hole and attach it to a necklace chain. You can also take this idea one step further and spray-paint the seashell gold or silver, or cover it with gold or silver leaf.
3. Starfish or Sand Dollar Shadow Boxes
This idea is adorable, and we love the fact that you can hang these in your bedroom as a sweet reminder of your wedding day year round. If you’re lucky enough to find starfish or sand dollars along the beach, save them and take them home. Purchase shadow boxes and mount them using E-3000 glue or gorilla glue to a small piece of poster board cut to the size of the box. Place the poster board inside and voila – a beautiful set of shadow boxes that are amazing wedding day mementos.
4. Seashell Shadow Box Guest Book
This idea is perfect, because it allows you to combine the memento with the wedding guestbook. Simply snag some sand from the beach you’re getting married at, and purchase a shadow box and some seashells (unless you’re lucky enough to find a ton of pretty seashells on the beach). Have your wedding guests use Sharpie markers to sign the seashells instead of signing a guest book. Place the sand and seashells in the shadow box and you have a beautiful memento of your special day as well as all those who helped you celebrate it.
These are lovely memento ideas, and they’re super easy to create all on your own. You can take each of these ideas as far as you want, adding your own personal style and touches.
