Sand and footwear barely agrees together so sometimes the best solution for beach weddings is to embrace the ‘getting sand between your toes’ feel – you can always wear shoes again once the venue goes indoors anyway. Upon doing this, not only will you not need to bother with formal flats but going barefoot sometimes makes everything look more laid back and comfortable. Just like our wedding feature today, our bride, groom and their entourage opted to go sans footwear during the ceremony and it made this part of the event look more personal. Congratulations Emily and Trent!
Here is what the photographer has shared with us about this wedding…
Emily (the bride) and I have been friends for over 10 years. We traveled around the world together on Semester at Sea. I remember when she met Trent about 7 years ago when she was waitressing up in Breckenridge Colorado. He was the bartender there. Emily and I always said we would never find love. We were too tall, picky, and difficult but sure enough she did. She found her opposite. Trent is a complete neat freak and more high strung, Emily is well, messy and extremely mellow. They both share a great Pyrenees dog Bodhi that they are obsessed with.
They decided to get married in Michigan. Emily had spent every summer there in their family’s summer’s home. Her grandmother also lived there who was 90 years old and couldn’t travel otherwise. Rather then getting married in the church there they went for the beach cause they both wanted to be wed barefoot in the sand. Beyond that, the atmosphere there was extremely friends and family oriented. Neighbors allowed guests to stay in their homes rent free and the venue didn’t charge by the hour. The DJ was a friend and most of the decorations were all DIY. I stayed with the family in their huge home that had been in the family for over 100 years. It was quite the different experience as a wedding photographer. I loved it.
