Minty Beach Feel

Mint and gray sure is an awesome color palette for a beach wedding. The cool tones are perfect complement for the warmth of the sun and the sea. But also, it is undeniably pretty on anyone and anything. It’s one of the pastel colors that we really like looking at. And this wedding is an epitome of all that – it was such a beautiful family oriented day which was adorned by adorable details. I specially loved the bicycle cake topper. It was a symbol of the hobby our couple love doing together – triathlons. Congratulations on your amazing wedding day Nathan & Meghan!

Bride & Groom

What is the overall story for this album?

Nate and I met in Williamsburg Virginia at a triathlon that he was helping to put on, and I was racing at. We fell in love quickly, and our shared love of swimming, bicycling, and running became our favorite way to spend time together. We tried to include hints of triathlon throughout our wedding day, since it was the thing that brought our lives together. Nate has two darling children, Grace Virginia (9) and Alex(6). They are such a joyful part of our lives, and so we tried to include them as a part of the day in every way that we could. We told them over and over that this day was about the 4 of us becoming a new family.

What inspired the wedding day outfits?

We just tried to pick some colors that would pair well with a beach wedding. Mint and Grey seemed to make everyone happy. We all wore bare feet for the wedding, but Nate and the kids changed into mint green converse gym shoes for the reception. They loved having matching shoes with their dad, and now they are the only shoes anyone wears around our house!

What was your favorite part of the day?

Our favorite part of the day was when Meghan’s parents surprised us with a bagpiper to walk us into the reception as we were introduced. Meghan’s parents were introduced this way at their wedding in 1974, as were Meghan’s sister and brother in law, in 2009. It was exciting to have the tradition continue.

Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?

Honestly, I mostly used Etsy.com for those types of projects! We planned the wedding in less than 6 months, and although I would have loved to do things on my own, there just wasn’t time.

What were the highlights from the ceremony & reception?

The highlight of the ceremony, for us, was seeing each other for the first time as Meghan came down the aisle. That seems to be what we talk about most. At the reception, our favorite part was including the kids in our first dance, and having fun on the dance floor together. We also acknowledged all of the friends at our reception who have completed an Ironman Triathlon. It turned out that 20% of our wedding guests were Ironman, so we asked everyone to bring their race medals, and we took some pictures together, and played a song to celebrate all of the accomplishments of our friends.

Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?

We included bicycles wherever we could, and a way to remember how we came into each other’s lives.

What part of the ceremonies do you think was the most memorable for the bride and groom?

The most memorable part for us, and for most of our guests was when we said our vows to the children. We presented each of them with a gift to remember the day with. The kids felt really special, and the continue to cherish their gifts.
