Marysa & Goran
Marysa & Goran had a beautiful beach wedding at the Malibu West Beach Club. The wedding was a small destination wedding where close family and friends flew and drove from across the United States to attend.
The Love Story
From the bride:
My husband and I both have very different backgrounds and culture (he’s Serbian and I am Native American), so we really wanted to combine our culture and show this blend in our wedding. We chose a venue that basically just came with the space and we could coordinate everything from the vendors to the decorations and music… almost like any empty canvas that we could paint however we chose.

Extra Special Details
The venue. I’ve always dreamed of a beach wedding and our venue offered a perfect blend of the beach atmosphere yet our guests didn’t actually have to get sand in their shoes because our ceremony was held on a deck overlooking the beach with the reception indoors. Some of the décor to represent our cultures included cedar roses within the bride/bridesmaids bouquets (hand-woven by my mother and cousin) and svadbeni peskiri (wedding towels) were wrapped around the groomsmen.
The music. We also played a wide mix of music from old rock, pop, country, and Serbian music. Our wedding song was Must be Doing Something Right (by Billy Currington) which we had choreographed and after the final dip the song transitioned into Loca by Shakira so our guests could join us on the dance floor.
The decor. The wedding was filled with decor that screamed beach!! The Centerpieces were crafted out of Starfish, shells and fish net. They were accented by ocean blue candles. Jamaica’s Cakes did a terrific job creating a cake with white chocolate starfish and coral cascading down the cake. Our favorite though was the notes in the bottles for each of the guests along with bubbles. There were so many cute ideas that Marysa incorporated into this beautiful day.
The Bride’s Advice
Enjoy your wedding because it will go by fast! Everyone told me this but it is really true. I wish I would’ve paid for a professional videographer but luckily my photographer captured all the key moments and even incorporated our photos into a short video with our wedding song playing in the background, so I’m not too upset by that oversight. Do not get held up on trying to please everyone because that just simply isn’t possible… this is YOUR day! — Marysa
