A destination beach wedding doesn’t always take place on a warm, tropical island. If your destination beach wedding has more of a seashore feel, then consider any of these tips to enhance the ambience.
When many brides think of destination beach weddings, they automatically picture warm, tropical islands with miles of white sandy beaches and breathtaking blue waters. While many destination beach weddings are held in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, a number of destination beach weddings take place on other beaches throughout the world; some right in your own backyard.
There are tons of beaches to choose from all along the coasts of the United States as it is, and many of these beaches have more of a nautical, seashore kind of feel, as opposed to a Caribbean tropical island ambience.
If you are planning a destination beach wedding on the Northern Atlantic or Pacific coasts, then the look and the feel of the beach may be a bit different than the beaches in Miami, so you’ll need to choose flowers, décor, and wedding favors that complement your specific surroundings.
Cooler Color Themes
While you may find brighter, more vivid colors used for tropical beach weddings, cooler color themes often work better for coastal, seashore-type beach weddings. Cool blues, grays, ivories, and lavenders are ideal, or any type of pastel theme. Any colors that falls into these categories will complement a seashore destination beach wedding perfectly.
Nautical-Themed Favors and Decorations
Again, if you’re having a coastal wedding somewhere where there are no palm trees or pelicans, it’s probably best to give favors and use decorations that are appropriate. Leave the palm tree wedding favors or pelican-themed desserts at the curb and instead opt for dolphin wedding favors or a cake with a beautiful seashell design.
Other accents such as fishing nets, messages in bottles, or boat designs can easily enhance the look and feel of your wedding day. You can use these accents with everything from your favors and linens to your cake and floral arrangements. Take advantage of your unique surroundings. Not every seashore theme destination beach wedding has to feel or look like the Bahamas.
